Par 3 "pitch and putt" coarse helps my short game

My short game has always been my main problem, I am one of those players who can get to the green, or there abouts, within two or three shots under par.

Then it all goes wrong. I am so inconsistant. I have practiced endlessly at my local club on their practice greens and bunkers, but I find this boring. Thus it does not seem to help.

The solution that suits me is a small 9 hole par 3 coarse local to me. It is laid out in a wood, and is very short. The longest hole is 115yds and the shortest 65yds. They are all different, some are very tight and need great finesse and a light touch. The greens are suprisingly good and true. At a fiver for 18 holes , cheap too.

This has helped me no end and so far this year I have knocked 5 shots off my handicap.

Practice doesn't need to be boring.

Re: Par 3 "pitch and putt" coarse helps my short game

i play a 1729mtr 9 hole par 31 while im waiting for the big course to open. ive been playing since last august on and off due to weather.i went round the other day in 36 so i cant wait to get my handicapp down cos they put me on 30,but anyway i feel very proud of myself for scoring that plus i got a big bonus in beating my m8 who plays to 8.9

Sparko, is it true that you Icelandics have to find alternative entertainmemt in the winter months????

No golf, loads of snow and no sun. I doubt if you go to bed in the summer to make up for it.
