I had my golf game evaluation yesterday.

I want to be a grade by the end of the year. So I book the local club pro out to do an evaluation of my game. we looked at putting chipping pitching bunkers, and full swing.

he said my full swing is very good and have a good rythm and most of the time on plane. It is a swing like a single figure handicap he said some of the single figure handicap players he coaches would be jealous of my swing. He said we have no need of doing lessons with my full swing in the short term, but he said I need to improve my coil and impact position a little, which will give me more distance and better ball striking.

He said I would lose between 10 strokes off my game with a better putting tech, and probly another 3 to 5 strokes with better chipping tech. and another 3 to 5 with pitching. all up my short game cost me between 15 and 20 strokes a game.

Re: I had my golf game evaluation yesterday.

So what have you learned?

That short game is where you (and almost all golfers) need to concentrate?

Good to hear your evaluation went well.

Re: I had my golf game evaluation yesterday.

Mr Change,

I've seen your full swing, leaving me very suprised your not off single figures.

Never mind going to a pro I could of told you with a swing like yours your short game must need some improvement............

Practice that and who knows where you will be by the end of this season.

Good Luck

Ian.

Re: I had my golf game evaluation yesterday.

I wish more people would see a pro to do a game evaluation like you did. The positives you've gained from that was well worth the time and money!

About 2 years ago I started a 7-week program in which I undertook to halve your handicap. If in that time your handicap wasn't halved, I would coach you for free until it was halved. In 2 years, I've had to coach 3 people for free out of about 175.

I ironed out any MAJOR swing flaws and worked on fundementals but then focussed only on the short game, recovery, play strategies and I looked at equipment (like taking out the 3-iron and putting in a wood ...).

It produced amazing results and still does. Short game is where it counts.

Re: I had my golf game evaluation yesterday.

I'm having my first lesson with the pro on tuesday, he said it will be completly on putting, three major areas he said will be covered, firstly the putting stroke, second how to read the putts, and third how to putt the correct distance and aim. He also said that he will spend a few mintues with me and work out a practice routine.

Re: I had my golf game evaluation yesterday.

Sweet!

Once I've got my full swing under control, I plan on working with someone to fine tune my short game. The only caveat is that my instructor must teach the Pelz method (otherwise all my practice is for naught!)
