Re: How good can you get?

My scoring goals for 2006 is to get down to scratch by mid year and be able to play more rounds under par. If I can get close to that then may consider about trying to get pro status within 2 years. Hopefully 2-3 times a week worth of practice will allow me to do that.

As for my swing goals:
1) Stop my lateral hip movements. Can control it fairly well at the start of the round but begins to creep in as I progress

2) Focus on trying to get the clubface to be in a neutral position at the top of the swing.

3) Better impact position (should be together with the reducing hip slide)

4) Stop those 3-putts! I tend to always have about 2-3 of these a round from not lagging my long putts well. I guess I should work on distance control with my long putts....

Good luck everyone!

Re: How good can you get?

My Goal for 2006,
I would really love to play to my abilty more as i'am a very streaky golfer, some days i'll play very much like a good 4 handicapper and others like a 12 handicapper. As i play off 8 i would love to get down to 6 i beleive i could do it quite easily as long as i play within my self and stop tinkering whilst i'am playing for some reason no matter how well iam playing i'am always tempted to tinker does any body else find themselvs doing this and if so what impact does it have on your game.

Re: How good can you get?

My target is to get down to scratch by my 18th birthday in november, and win a junior open or two. It is going to be a hard year!

I shot an 81 and had a few other low 80s.
Got my Handicap down from 28 to 15.6

This year I want to get my handicap down to 12 and break 80.

Re: How good can you get?

1. Get handicap down to 0 (I am a 3)

2. Improve short game (this will enable item 1, above)

3. Get my distance back off the tee - I have lost 20-25 yards over the last few years. I can do this by continuing to hit balls tension free and with excercise and stretching.

You sound like you're in the same position as me. I got from 28 to 15.6 in my first year too. do you really think you can get under 10 this year? I really hope I can but i'm not sure. We both did well late year but i think this year is gonna be harder. What area of your game do you think is the weakest? Mine is deffo short game. I probably up and down from 50 -100 yards every 1 in 20. under 50 it's around 1 in 10.

Re: How good can you get?

HI Daz
Well i must say i really think i can get under ten this year im not bragging but i just feel ive got it in me to do it.The main problem is short game that is the one area i didnt give enough time too last year so im gonna get a practice routine made up this year stick too it and see were i go from there. We dont get that long a year here in iceland like may too october so i think ive done well up to now.Just hope this snow clears up soon so i can get on the winter greens to get me swing going again

I went from a 19 to a 5.3 in under 8 months, so it is very possible to go from a 15 to under 10.

as far as my goal, currently I am around 8 on my index and I want to be a scratch golfer by the end of the year. I am going through a COMPLETE swing overhaul, in my last six rounds I have had an 80, 79, and 77 while playing from the tips, so my swing is coming along. Chipping has also improved. I know how I was playing when I was a 5.3 and I can already see I will easily be much better then that when the new swing becomes more natural. Only downfall is last week I was playing a course that I frequent and found myself getting penalty strokes because I reached the water on two holes that I had never reached before, guess I need to hit 3 wood of those tees If anyone here is serious about their game I reccomend finding a golfing machine instructor. The average golfing machine istructors know their stuff MUCH better then your average PGA instructor. www.thegolfingmachine.com

Re: How good can you get?

I dont have a handicap at the moment, as only started playing golf in July, but am hoping to get maybe late teens/early 20s

I'm quite lucky because my dad plays, my uncle used to be a pro and my cousin is on a HCP of 4, studying somehting or other at St.Andrews uni
