Scoring in competitions In yesterday's Stableford out of 100 players, one guy got 39 and another one got 37. So that's 2% of players scoring better than their handicap. Everybody else got less than 36. The wind was moderate and the greens were good. How does this scoring compare with other clubs ? This happens week in, week out as well.

Re: Scoring in competitions My clubs alooott easier than yours i guarentee (only bout 6000 yards, pretty open course). but if there is wind around here 36 will do the job. Otherwise you need closer to 42, 43 to win. I scored 44 on Wednesday and came 2nd. The par is 70 and SSS is 68 so members should shoot around 38. I'd prefer to play a course where par is a good score, i love goin to opens at other courses and actually startin a round knowing i have all my strokes.

Re: Scoring in competitions Our course is only 6,250 yards and is a par 70. Currently though we have a very shortened 18th because they are working on a new tee. It's still classed as a par 4 but it's only about 200 yards so everybody can reach. So it is baffling why the scoring is so bad. We seem to be getting these US Open style pin position at the moment ( 4feet from the back left on a slope etc) which doesn't make scoring easy.
