Can you guys give me some suggestions for new irons?

Hello guys and gals, I am in the market for a new set of irons and wanted to get some ideas from you all. I play at alot of the courses around Buffalo, NY, and I have been hitting in the mid 80's so far this season. I have a set of dynatour m7's, and I have already split 2 heads this season. I am about 6 foot and a pretty hard hitter. Not sure of my swing speed, but I am going to get measured up when I go to look at clubs. I would like to spend up to 700 bucks, and get a 3-PW, and maybe another wedge. Can anyone give me ideas to go try out?? Any store/online recomendations? I am going to Pro Golf Discount to get measured and fitted after I buy them.

Thanks,
Greg

what do you all think about the Mizuno MP 32's?? Ive heard a lot of good about them, and I think they run around 700.

If you are shooting in the mid - low 80's you should be looking for something along the lines of the Ping G2, Callaway X18, Titleist 704.CB or any of the many combo irons sets.

Depends on what you like ... for traditional cavity backs: definately either X-18's , Taylor Made OS2 or Cleveland TA7 Tour. If you like more compact head design: Titleist 690CB or the Taylor LT2's.

You can't go wrong with them. But go to a well-stocked golf store and try the whole lot (2 or 3 times) before you decide on a short list.

Re: Can you guys give me some suggestions for new irons?

The Callaway X-18s offers all the company's legendary playability in its compact traditional head, and they're the only company to come close to Ping in their ability to manufacture golf clubs that make the game easier. Them and the Ping G2's are good bets but there are some other good irons on the market. I'd recomment trying:

Callaway X-18
Ping G2
MacGregor M565
Mizuno Mp-32
TaylorMade RAC LT

I've heard nothing but compliments from players who have used/own these clubs.

Take your time, try out all the different options available and make sure you know exactly the clubs that are for you.

I could always sell you some Air Mach II irons I started off with. A few scratches. Bidding starts at £50,000! They're classics I tell you, chuckle!

I have also been shooting in the 80's this season. I went to a demo day and the best irons i hit there were the Titleist 704s or the Ping G2s. Go with one of these.

Re: Can you guys give me some suggestions for new irons?

I just went to 3 stores and tried about 12 different clubs. I can not hit the Mizuno's for the life of my and the X-18's and the MacGregor 565 were what I liked the most. I can get a set of X-18's fitted, with Rifle Shafts and new grips for under 750. My swing speed for my driver was 110-115 and my swing speed for my 6 iron was around 90mph. Would you recomend a stiff shaft or uniflex??

You may want a firm flex for your driver, but definitely go for the uniflex for your irons.

Re: Can you guys give me some suggestions for new irons?

I am by no means the best golfer, man I can barely say an average golfer. But I just got a new complete set because some little B#$#%ds stole my car that had my old clubs in it and when the car ran out of gas they my clubs to teach the car a lesson... But don't get me started LOL

So here's what's in my bag now. PING G2 Irons 3i 4i High Loft, 5 to wedge normal G2i putter and Taylor Made R7 and R5 Driver & 3w. I haven't used them that much yet but man... I could never hit my low irons the HL is sweet, it's a club I rely on now. MY drives always sliced or slight fade but always went to the right. Now I can even hook it with R7...

Best investment I have made in a long time.
