Ball flight high and short??

I was playing this weekend with my buddies and one of them was asking why his ball flight was so high and short. When I hit a pw he is hitting a 8 or 7, even his drives a very high Im talking 8 or 9 iron high and only at the longest 220 or 230. When he hits his irons he never takes a divot. He has always played this way but his drives were never this high and short. Any ideas what he is doing?

Re: Ball flight high and short??

To me it sounds like either he's flipping his wrists ("lifting the ball"), never hitting down on the ball. Or less likely, his shafts are to flexible and are kind of whippy.

Re: Ball flight high and short??

On eof my playing partners does the same thing all the time and will not believe me when i tell him what his problem is. This problem is maily caused by an incorrect turn. Instead of making a proper turn, he is dipping his left shoulder. On the downsing, the shoulder comes up, creating a lift with the club. Get your friend to make sure his left shoulder is over top of his right knee at the top of his backswing and then strike down on the ball.
