Rory Sabbatini

Did you see "Rory Sabbitini's" conduct on the golf course last night. I know Ben Crane is slow "painfully slow" but what he did was out of order.

Complain to the officials not take it out on the guy on the course in front of millions.

Ben's post match interview was truly magnificent and very humble.

WOW

Re: Rory Sabbatini

I don't necessarily blame Sabbitini. Crane is obnoxiously slow. When you've been put on the clock because of your playing partner, and said partner doesn't get noticably faster, I'd get pretty frustrated, too - with the prospect of a $100 000 fine looming over me.

Re: Rory Sabbatini

true, but what rory did was definately disrespectful. There is no excuse for doing what he did. He has a history of acting like a ***** out there. Even in a Golf Digest issue, there was a little snippet, i believe either a caddy or a player said "he behaves like an idiot out there". I never have liked sabbatini, and this just furthers my beliefs that he is one of the biggest jerks out on tour.

Re: Rory Sabbatini

While I've often seen his name at the top of the 'most hated' list, and while I agree that his behaviour was far from professional (and isn't to be excused), I do feel for him.

While Rory finished just fine at the Booz Allen (6th, I believe), the point is still this (for us normal humans, and anyone who finishes at the bottom)

Imagine if your next paycheque would be effectively held back because of something that a workmate was doing. I'm sure you'd go a little batty if they didn't seem to want to correct whatever it was that was hindering your progress.

And while we all like to think we'd act professionally, sometimes we just don't.

Again, this doesn't excuse his behaviour, but it's not totally whacked out, either.

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.

I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.

Re: Rory Sabbatini

I don't think the fine is anywhere near $100k, if you can find a site that even mentions the PGA Tour's fining process I would love to see it.

I've played a lot of rounds with people who will probably end of spending a year or more of their life getting ready to hit a ball. This can become very annoying, just like when you play a public course and on every hole your playing partners lose their ball and you spend more time looking for their ball and playing their game than your own.

Do I think R.S. was out of line, yes but it made for some very entertaining golf and believe me Ben Crane didn't get an ounce of respect from me when Rory went ahead. Everytime Ben was shown on TV this week and any other week I feel like I must change the channel because he is

A. pissing me off just watching him waggle for 20 seconds before striking the ball (nbc, cbs, etc ... when taping B.C. please stop showing me his preshot routine etc, this is what I'd like when watching B.C. ... ONLY VOICE OVER BLACK SCREEN OR OTHER GOLFER, Okay lets go out to the 15th where B.C. has 172 yards to the hole, VIDEO ON B.C. half way through backswing and completing swing, watch ball and get the camera off him as fast as he swung that club, move on ... no more of him shaking his butt, shoulders, legs, head, unfit Titleist hat, clubs, hands all over the place, I'd rather watch Charles Barkley's swing than Bens, at least I would find something funny about the situation after Charles nutted his ball

and
B. I truly believe the image of him doing all that **** before he swings is screwing up the preshot routine to my own game

Finally, the only thing that pisses me off more than a slow player is the idiots that pick up and hit other people's golf balls on the course. Here's a tip for all those beginners out there, unless your in the middle of the woods please leave the golf ball sitting there (your gain max $3.75 with ProV1x, other player's loss, WHATEVER THE HELL THEY PAID FOR THE ROUND YOU JUST SCREWED UP)! Another thing that ticks me off is the playing partners that insist on picking up your ball to identify it, if its not your ball DON'T TOUCH IT!!

Congrats on keeping yourself very composed Ben, if I was in your situation I think I may have sat down in the middle of the fairway and shot the **** with my caddy or if I was hitting a 6 iron, I'd grab a 4 and try to hit Rory Stupatini.

You cant compare the average joes job (or paycheck for that matter) to a professional athlete. They are paid and expected to conduct themselves in a professional way. Personally, I think the guy that one the tournament (sergio) takes just as long to hit the ball. And no one is as bad as the german bernhard langer. Rory Sabatini should have
A) said something to B.C. about his slow play in a professional manner
b) if B.C. doesent improve than R.S. should have notified an official
C) shut up and played golf.

bparker
Nothing makes me more hot than an amatuer that
a) waits for the group ahead of them to get off the par 5 after he hit his 200 yard drive and still has 330 yet to get to the green
b) the guy that takes 6-7 practice swings every shot and then tops it.
c)the same guy as in example b that reads the putt like it is to win the masters. REads it in all directions and in facts fixes every small dimple on the way to the hole...this is the same guy that has been 4-putting all day.
d) the guy that says "get in the hole" at every golf tournament. These guys should have their badged stripped from them.
e) the guy that says "nice putt" or "you made it" before the ball gets to the hole. Especially if it doesent go in....I am not a superstitious person or feel that it jinxes putts.....however it is just annoying.
f) the two jack asses I played with at Sahms goat track and golf club (they were the only course with avail tee times) that gave...and I mean litterally gave themselves 7 foot putts and didnt count that even as a stroke.

I am not a bitter person by nature...but I could write a book

I agree with you completely, especially the par 5 comment where they are like I'll just be safe and back up everyone else because one time when I was 18 and had a 40 mph wind behind be I hit a 300 yard drive. I love when the weather gets really hot here and those idiots that practice 6 times are just wasting so much energy. You forgot one person, the person who says 'Great Shot' on the tee box and than watches it go into the trees. I forgot a few situations:

A. You've been helping your partner find his stray balls all day and he finally hits a fairway and you lose your ball and he just walks up to his ball and waits for you to find it yourself.
B. The idiots that hit their ball on the tee box and then proceed to walk to their golf cart and don't bother watching your ball incase you lose track of it and then when you don't watch their ball and they lose it they blame you for not watching it

I had a situation with your 'E' earlier this week. I had a 10 foot putt for eagle on a par 5 and right after I hit is he says 'Nice Eagle' and I said stfu it isn't getting there as it falls a foot short. I hope he felt like an idiot for the rest of the day.

Or the two freaks who sit and complain about everything. Unlike youz i actually enjoy my golf and dont try to find faults in it, should try that sometime. I have never found a player faster than me and never complained at one slower. lol @ saying people can ruin your whole round from slow play or whatever...get a grip mate!

Re: Rory Sabbatini

coach

have another pint on me. At no time did I say a slow round effects my round. The thread I hijacked was mainly things that irritate me but in by no means controls my round or score nor does it make me want to play any less golf. I dont expect all players to know all the rules (it is impossible to know all the rules) however, common sense does and should apply. People in golf tend to do some pretty interesting things that defy logic and statistical reason. Some people wether it be at your work, your local pub, your gym, and god forbid your wife lack what most men and women have...common sense....As for being a freak, If you have never grumbled about a foursome walking in front of you creating a log-jam than you sir are a minority. I was once attacked by four lesbians on a private course because my playing partner was slower than rainman on a good day. and let me tell you this.....I let them play through...and nothing hurts a mans pride then to let four bull-dikes play through on a wonderful august morning.

Re: Rory Sabbatini

I don't let these things mess up my round. That's what I like about golf, it's only your fault, unless you got some idiots who yell or stomp on you line everytime you hit a shot. No one can control you other than yourself.

I've liked this quote since the first time I heard it:
The only thing you have to do in life is die and live life until you do.

Re: Rory Sabbatini

Well, I gotta wonder if the foursome behind my threesome was complaining.

They're in carts, we're walking. We were by no means playing slow, but they're still up our @sses.

It was kind of weird to see seniors playing speed golf.

I wonder if they were starting to feel like Sabbitini?

Re: Rory Sabbatini

Well if there are groups in front of you there isn't anything you can do, you'll just end up waiting behind them. Also if they come up and complain, tell their old asses to get out of the carts and huff it. But if there isn't anyone in front of you and you think that the foursome behind you is playing quicker than your threesome just mention something to your partners, most golfers don't mind letting the people behind you, who are pressing, pass through. And it's nice to know at least one person in your group is realizing the speed at which your playing, the biggest problem with beginners is they feel that they are in their own world and no one else is affected by what they do.

I think it was rude of tiger woods to shut down the #8 at pinehurst to play with micheal jordan the other day. I wonder how much money changed hands on that hole?
