Hi Everybody: I've been a member of this site for a long time and have yet to post. I think this is a WONDERFUL site, but I'm at an end. It has gotten to the point where I am contemplating giving golf up Let me explain, I took 4 lessons in early spring and I was hitting the ball better than I ever have in my life. It only lasted one week. 1. With EVERY iron, I push the ball straight right, not a slice, right. And only about 50 yards. If I do hit my 7 iron straight, it is only about 75 yards. 2. I have started to slice again with all of my woods. And I mean slice, real nasty. Here's what I've done to correct some of these problems to no success. 1. I have loosened my grip on my irons and have really focused on using only arms and shoulders to start my takeaway, once the club is parallel to the ground I hinge my wrists. I've also tried to roll my wrists on the follow-through to fix the push. Even with these changes to my golf swing, I still push dead right and get no distance. 2. To fix the slice with the woods, I've also tried to roll my wrists. The problem is everything I read says that I am coming inside-out on my swing instead of outside-in and that's causing my slice. To be perfectly honest with you guys, I've tried to grasp this in-side out swing path but have no idea exactly what it means. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent, if anybody has any ideas at all, I would be very greatful. I am playing a round tonight, I couldn't take anymore of the range, but I have no confidence that I'll play well. I know I need an attitude adjustment as well. Sincerely, Frustrated in Salt Lake

Re: At an End It's funny, I just registered at this site, and yours is the first forum message I read...and it mirrors my experience exactly. This is only my third year playing golf, and I play badly, but recently it has gotten worse, in exactly the ways you describe. I am hitting off-target shots 30-45 degrees to the right with every iron, and they go about 50 yards. I've acquired the slice off the tee, too. My last two experiences on a golf course were so embarrassing that I think I won't go back until I've seen real progress at the driving range. Obviously I'm not in a position to offer advice, but I just thought I'd let you know you're not the only one...

Re: At an End bugazie... I feel the same way about my wife but you know what..it would be cheaper to stay with her and their are some positives. (joking, but hey it would be cheaper) Now to my golf analogy I am sure you may be in a rut but their has to be some positives to playing golf for you as well...ie getting outdoors, relieving stress, camraderie......scoring is just part of it...if all you care about is shooting a low score and the others dont really matter than maybe you should get out. I am sure you enjoy the game of golf. as ian said go back to basics and take some lessons...repeat what you have learned in the lessons and ingrain the proper way to do things at the range good luck ed

You know what, you guys are great and right! Ubizmo, to add more irony to this, this is my third year too. I really appreciate the advice and encouragement, and Indiana, I love being out there on the course. I will change my attitude. I tee off in about 45 minutes, maybe today will be a different experience. Thanks again! ![]()
