Greg Norman's "The Secret"

Greg Norman endorsed a golf training aid called "The Secret". It was mentioned in Greg Willis's website during his description of "The Right Hand drill".

It was a plastic piece that attached to the back of your hand and supposed to teach you to maintain the "angle" in your right hand during the swing.

Has anyone here ever used this device and is it a piece of s**t or is it something that is useful?

Just wondering...

Re: Greg Norman's "The Secret"

I almost never buy stuff like this but after I read the Right Hand Drill several times I bought The Secret on Ebay for about 5 bucks. I wanted to know what my right wrist was supposed to feel like in the swing and it does do that. I never took it to the range though. Too embarassed.

It makes my right wrist feel like it is cocked to the extreme. I never would have done it that way had I not bought this thing.

Let me tell you this. When I tried this Right Hand Drill on the course I was knocking the pins down. It feels a little bit odd because and feels like it would rob some power but I think the opposite is true. It causes the club to be released at the proper place in the swing.

Hey Greg....Thanks for the RIGHT HAND DRILL. And this place. I love it.

The only thing I don't read is the threads on shanks.

Joe

Re: Greg Norman's "The Secret"

Joe,

Thanks for the reply. I was doing the same thing, thinking of buying one to get the feel of the Right hand drill. Sounds like it is worth it. I think I will buy one on ebay, myself.

In the meantime, I have been working on the Right hand drill too. I agree with you, it is probably one of the best drills I have ever used. It seems to create immediate results and I think it is an essential move in the golf swing.

Thanks to Greg Willis also for such a great drill!!

Hey Greg,

I bought the Secret - do you recommend it? Does it do what you teach in your drill?

Thanks

Re: Greg Norman's "The Secret"

For the record, I bought it and I am using it. It think it is very helpful showing you how the right hand drill feels.

I took it to the range and hit a bucket of balls using the first half with a pitching wedge just like Greg Norman recommends. Then, I started moving up with the irons. I may have looked like a full blown dork with it on my hand and hitting balls on the range, but if you look at the shots I am hitting, long, straight with slight draw on it, you will want to keep working with it.

Saaweeetttt.....

Re: Greg Norman's "The Secret"

So it's good, huh? I've got it sitting on the floor of my car (next to the glove that keeps the left wrist from bowing and my Hank Haney Power Connection hahaha).

I'll give it a try and post my opinion.

Re: Greg Norman's "The Secret"

I, um, ahem, also bought one, on ebay. Got it, along with the DVD, for $14, which didn't seem like a bad deal. I figure, for 14 bucks I'll take a chance on something. I'm less likely to drop $100 on something like the AJ videos, without more assurance that it'd be worth my while.

Re: Greg Norman's "The Secret"

Well, it may be coincidence, luck or it may be the "secret" but I just shot my best round of the season today at my home course.

One week after using "The Secret"

Luck, coincidence, .....maybe "The Secret"

I'm not giving mine back......

Now I am working on AJ's Truth....

Re: Greg Norman's "The Secret"

Another advantage to "The Secret" is that it your right hand index finger in the "nose mining" position.

A small advantage, but it needs mentioning.

Ha ha I would have preferred to call it the trigger effect, but if nose mining works for you, then by all means

Re: Greg Norman's "The Secret"

Hi guys,

I am 52 and unfortunately, took up the game quite late in life I had serious contact problems till I absorbed the right hand drill. I deliberately exaggerate the effect with a forward press before take off. The trick of course is to keep the position intact. For the first time I broke 90 and it really felt great. Any tool that aids in keeping the "cock" is going to be really helpful
