Shaft(s) too flexible?

Today at the range I tried out a driver and realised that the shaft was way too flexible. Anyway, the ball flight seemed like it was doing a loop-the-loop in the air and not going anywhere which I've noticed happens the odd time with other clubs if I swing a little faster. Is that ball flight a sign that the shaft isn't stiff enough for the speed you swung it?

It was a pity because I was hitting it very straight with this driver but it just would not go anywhere.

Yeah, it would either pop upwards with very little momentum or it would pop up and have draw-spin.

Both comes from not enough energy being transferred to the ball at impact. All the energy is dispersed through the shaft laterally and not through the clubhead to the ball at impact.
