Belly Putters...

Hi All,

My putting this season has cost me a lot of strokes. I practice some but probably not enough.

For the past 4 years I have been putting with the old standby, a Ping B60. After hearing a lot about belly putters, I am wondering if it is worth the jump over to see if it helps. I have even heard some say they should be declared illegal because of the ability to anchor the end of the putter to your tum, tum.

Give me your advice, recommendations on belly putters. Are you using one? Is it helpful? What brands do you recommend?

Thanks,

Chessbum....

Re: Belly Putters...

I tried one - A Scotty Cameron Pro Platinum Mid Sur.

I couldn't get used to being jabbed in the gut on every putt... so I reshafted it, and loved my heavy-headed putter.

Re: Belly Putters...

I've just bought a cheapo one to see if I get on with it - practice results were phenomenal, it felt like I couldn't miss a string of 20 six-foot putts on my carpet at home, but I won't have actually used it in anger till tomorrow.
I'm ususally a terrible putter - only 2 or 3 three-putts a round, but I never actually seem to sink anything, and I average 30 putts while shooting an average score of 85.
I'm hoping the belly putter will change this, the lack of any wavering as it goes back and through certainly builds a feeling of confidence.

Re: Belly Putters...

i use a 50 inch broomhandle ping putter, and use it side saddle looking at the hole, i find it 50% better than my last 34 inch putter, anything from 6 feet is 95% in. lag putting has me leaving it most times no more than 17 inches awayfrom the hole. this is the best buy i have ever made in 30 years playing golf.
best of luck bill
