| Mike Austin Came across this obituary in a local paper. Mike Austin died at 95. He hit a 515 yd drive during the 1974 US National Senior open in Las Vegas. He was 64 at the time and used a steel shafted persimmon driver and a balata ball with a 27 mph tail wind - in the Guiness Book of Records. Second on the list is Davis Love 111 who hit a 476 yd drive in 2004. He developed a swing tha relied efficient body movement. The key was "supple quickness" whcih generated club head speed by relaxing the muscles. He was in the Top 50 golf instructors in the US. |
