Can anyone tell me the rule for a ball that moves on the green after it has been marked cleaned and replaced, then a few seconds later as I am looking at the line it moves, do i replace it or play it as it lies, and is there any penalty? Many thanks for your help in this problem Cheers Todd

Re: moving ball If it moves while you're away from it, replace it as closely as possible to its original position, penalty free.

Re: moving ball Thats where it gets complicated it depends on whether you have addressed the ball or not and also whether or not you were making a stroke towards the ball. as a side note, if you move your ball while in the process of marking/un marking it, there is no penalty as long as you remember to replace it. thats actually the bit that catches most people out, there is no penalty for the ball moving, but you have to replace it.
