Since our scores aren't getting any better, the only fun we have is to buy new stuff

Yet another article indicating that short-game play is where we should practice.

It's always fun to head out to the range, and look at people pounding driver.

While I like to blow off steam by pounding driver, once I'm swinging where I'm happy with my ball flight, I like to hit half shots, and work on them. Or I'll head to the course, and chip around the practice area.

I'm in dire need of a local range, though, so I have a place to keep the swing in tune (and where I don't have to overseed my lawn weekly).

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.

I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.

Not sure whether this is relevant to the fact that scores have remained the same, but the cut from qschool this year was -11. last year was -7 - same course. thats a huge differnce.

Based on the ultimate number of shots we take with each club, practice time should be divided something like this:

putting - 50% (36/72)
driver/wood - 20% (14/72)
long shots - 10% (8/72)
mid/short shots - 20% (14/72)

Since short iron shots are more important than mid and long, you should probably spend even more time on that aspect of the game. Also, unless you are a scratch player, the number of short shots and putts in a round are larger which should increase their practice percentage as well.

Why not find a field and start your own range?
You are well capable of doing club repairs (in fact you are well beyond most club pros level of expertise).
You love golf ,make it your business!

This time next year ,You'll be a millionaire (and I can visit your range).
