Re: How About Tiger?

Don't know about you Nick, but if one of our team gave that impression, then I think people would pick up on it pretty quickly, and he wouldn't be in the team for very long. There is no place for a prima donna in the Ryder cup, you have to be on top of your game and have that bit extra to win. Our players are clearly outpointed by the States when it comes to World rankings, but somehow as a team, we always work together.

Re: How About Tiger?

Andycap - I see what you are saying but i think i would always want Tiger on my side! IMO opinion it's that the Americans are not motivated enough to win and I wonder if its because there is so much money available on their tour that you do not have to win to have a brilliant lifestyle. Maybe they lose their winning edge. That being said i think with the change in how they pick the team they have great chance to beat us this year - i rather rate JB Homes and I would always have Daly in my team and cannot fathom why he has never been picked!

I think all of the top golfers are motivated and want to win. Though I do think that Tiger and even Phil to a certain degree really dislike the Ryder Cup. If it was not for sponserships requiring them to play and a public backlash they would skip the event. Both of them 6 years ago complained about how much money the event makes and that none of it goes to the players. Which causes them not to prepare for the course, fly in fly out type of an appearance. All the US can hope for is Monty or someone making them mad.

I do not see Daly making the team.

I agree Bob. Of all the tournaments played on foreign soil, the one that Tiger wants to do his best at more than any other (regardless of the payout) is the Open (British Open to us Yanks). Tiger respects the tradition of the game. The purest game is not a team round-robin.

Re: How About Tiger?

I agree with Nick on having John Daly in the team. You need to think really carefully about the wildcard selections, and I think that Long John and Paul Azinger would be the ideal choices. But hey, I'm English and don't want to give the Yanks any help beating us

Re: How About Tiger?

i dont think Daly will make it either - just do not understand why a man who can make so many birdies (essential to match play) and really get the crowd on his side (and thats BOTH sets of fans) has never got a look in!

Its going to be great match this year - i cant wait
