My clubhead speed / golf simulators

I was using this golf simulator today and my clubhead speed with my driver was 143mph. Is this good ?

I also averaged 235 yards with my drives. My best was 252. Some people have claimed to hit drives 290 on this simulator. Since I out drive these people on a golf course I'm not sure I believe them !

Using the golf simulator, I found it impossible to hole any putt. My playing partner was the same and we were both disapointed with the simulator.

As anybody else played on these simulators and found the putting impossible ?

Thanks !

Re: My clubhead speed / golf simulators

Maybe I am wrong,

I could see your ball speed being 143, but as far as club head speed the real long hitters have around a 130 most tour players have between 110-120. Given your distances my guess is that you should have a club head speed of around 80 maybe 90.

Re: My clubhead speed / golf simulators

Not to offend anybody in the simulator business but:

Most simulators are almost useless, in my opinion. I tried them for a winter and was worse off in the spring.

PROS
If it is the winter time you can swing a club and hit a ball in a comfortable environment, TVs showing the (ice) hockey game or golf, easy to get a beer, and food. Even have a tournament in the middle of winter.

Some simulators can show where the ball impacted the screen, this can give you some feed back as to the launch angle and whether it started out straight, push or pull.

CONS
The simulated ball flight tells you almost nothing about how you just hit the ball. I have hit drives over 450yds on a simulator and the furthest ever on course was 308yds with a 3 club tailwind. If I go all out on a drive I slice it two fairways over, on a simulator I have a slight fade or draw.

Needless to say, simulators are not helpful when you are tying to work on your swing. Ball flight is the only way to tell exactly how you struck the ball (without the use of high speed film).

Re: My clubhead speed / golf simulators

As with Playstation, the settings are important. Sounds like the place you played made the settings very "fore-giving"!

I have to agree they're not completely realistic. Last time I played the trajectory of a 7 wood was lower than the traj of the 5 wood and the 7W went further each time. Who knows?

Better than nothing in the winter -- I say. And you'll never get piping-hot natchos out on the course from the drinks cart!

Re: My clubhead speed / golf simulators

It must be ball speed of 143mph. I was reading up on it and it didn't add up.

I only went to this simulator because it's new to the area. It is supposed to be very accurate but I'm not sure. My Dad was hitting 3 woods about 160 yards and then he would do a half swing wedge which would sail over the green and go about 90 yards !

Unhappy Re: My clubhead speed / golf simulators

HELLO PUTTKING I ALSO HAVE BEEN ON ONE OF THOSE SIMULATORS AND TO BE HONEST IT WAS INTERESTING AT FIRST BECAUSE THE WEATHER WAS BAD BUT AFTER A WHILE IT CREATED BAD HABITS . IT SEEMS YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE SWING PATH OF THE LIGHTS/SENSOR.MEANING I HAD TO SWING VERTICAL TO GET A RESULT .SO I SACKED IT.WHEN I WAS PLAYING ON IT I WAS SWINGING AT ABOUT 97mph AND AVERAGING 280-305yrds.I AGREE WITH THE PUTTING BUT FOR ME THE CHIPPING ROUND THE GREEN WAS SHOCKING IWOULD AIM AT THE PIN AND IT WOULD SHOOT OFF TO THE RIGHT 45 degrees.SO IF I WAS YOU I WOULD STAY AWAY GOOD LUCK.
