swing speed versus shaft

I am looking at putting a Us technologies V2 65 shaft on my taylor made r7 ht 9.5 degree.

I swung a driver 6times andmy clubhead speed was

95 89 93 92 89 96

according to UST website I should stick with a regular flex shaft.
However I want to say that last summer my swing speed was 105 consistently. Could this be due to me not playing for 3 months? Iwant to go with the right flex shaft.

Thanks

Ed

I'd say go with the S, looking at the UST fitting chart. If you're SS is expected to go up, then you want the shaft that will keep up with you.

If your swing comes around, you may start to overpower the R.

Re: swing speed versus shaft

So you weren't hitting the ball well with your R shaft last year?

From what I understand the shaft will bend according to the centre of gravity of the club head. This means if you're over-powering the shaft, your club head will "sag" (giving you a bit more open club-face) and actually curve a bit more "ahead" of the shaft (giving you more effective loft).

But of course this is all academic. If you want to see if it makes a difference, try it. But I'd try it later in the season. Once your swing is grooved. So you know it's the shaft and not some other variable.

Re: swing speed versus shaft

i had a stiff shaft last year. But tis year I want to go with theproper equipment. I went to another fitter and he told me regular shaft.

LAst year I was told to go with a stiff shaft and then they tipped it because my clubface was coming open at the point of impact.
