Cro-Magnon Man

Is there anyone else who refuses to trade in their long irons for hybrids? I suppose I am a foolish purist, but there is something about hitting a 3 iron dead flush that is so satisfying in the sense that you've just done something pretty damned difficult to achieve. Other than on par 3's, I typically don't use one more than a couple times in a round if I am driving well. But by constantly practicing with the longer clubs at the range, I'm convinced it helps my ball striking with the scoring clubs.

Yeah maybe thats me too. Im still working down from a 10 hcp and I figure that if I cant hit a 3i or a 3/5w and learn to work it then whats the point of a hybrid .. sure I'll probably have lower scores in quicker time but I want to be able to hit that 200+ yard draw with a 3i

That and I find I dont hit my pals Ping G5 hybrid any further than I do my 5w/4i

Thats why I carry my MP-30 2-Iron, I hit it the other day and caught it pure, man theres no feeling like it in golf.

Hybrids will go the same way as the lob wedge I think, still used but not universally subscribed to, it depends on how long it takes the manufacturers to come up with the new hip club....

D.
