How to drive?

When i use my wood club, ball always turn right when she is in the air. What can i do?

There is a website on a good book with image showing picture of how to take club in hand, and showing full drive motion?

There can be a couple of resons why the ball is staying right after impact.

1. can be that you have a very weak grip, by saying that I mean at impact the clubface is left open(Thus sending the ball too the right) rotate both of your hands too the right about a quarter of an inch or so. This will make you hook the ball, and then gradually move your hands into a nuetral position, when you put your left hand on the club a V is formed with your index finger and thumb this should be pointing between your right chin and right shoulder, put your right hand on the club a V will be formed with the index finger and thumb this should also point between the right chin and shoulder. ( This is what we call a nuetral grip)

2. The lie angle of the club is too flat. You should have it checked at your local golf course, or at a golf shop that is near you're home. The longer the golf club the flatter the lie angle. The flatter the lie angle the ball will be influenced to the right of the target ( when the lie angle is flat the toe contacting the ground first, and the clubface can be open), the more upright the lie angle the ball will be influenced to the left of the target, ( the more upright the lie angle the heel makes contact with the ground first , and the clubface will be closing through impact)

Try a drill drill used by Jim Mclean

Take your normal address position Then drop your right foot back behind you a foot or so. concentrate on swinging slowly and striving for solid contact and feel your arms, and hands rotate through impact.

is there a preference of what material a driver is made of (wood,titanium etc.) or is this just a personal deciscion

Dear Billy,

Due to the technology in the golf industry it is a wise decision to opt for a metal wood or driver. A wood driver or fairway wood does not contain the power that a metal head driver does. You have a much better chance of hitting the metal wood more solidly for a couple of reasons.

1. The clubface is bigger
2. Metal is more explosive at impact than wood
3. A persimon wood is extremely hard to hit

Always opt to buy a metal wood you can widen your selection this way.
I would recommend, that you go test a cleveland launcher out

I recommend the video from Mike Austin on how to hit a driver. He and Mike Dunnaway are probably the best teachers of the drive. I went from hitting 230 to 280 in 7 months and I'm not kidding. No offense to any teachers but I believe every PGA professional should have a degree in Kinesiology (the study of muscle motion).
These 2 will breakdown a swing and explain it so you can repeat it. No tricks, nothing complicated. It is available at www.peacerivergolf.com. Mike Dunnaway also has a great book to fill in the gaps and explain more of the tape.
It's not the club it's the swing. I use a persimmon 5 wood and hit it 210-215 and dead straight.
