Re: ball position

Well, IMO it depends on your swing.

One planers tend to play irons between their heels (ie middle of stance), while two planers tend to move the ball some.

Drivers always seem to gravitate towards target.

Head to the range, and play with it. See what happens.

When I play my ball back past center, I start pushing and push-fading the ball.

Re: ball position

hi houndeye
im with lowpost on that one if i play the ball too far back in the stance i get the same result as him. ive been experimenting for ages and have recently had my first lesson where i was taught to position the ball from the same place which is 2 inches from the left heel and draw the back foot in in gradual increments the shorter the club you are using!
im no expert mate but this is working great for me!
hope it helps

Re: ball position

I am "old school" on this one. I prefer the ball in the center of my "body" for all full shots. Notice I said "body", and not "stance". Stances tend to vary too much from one person to another. The center of one's body never changes. Your zipper, belly button, or the center of your chest are good examples , and help with body alignment. With the ball in same position, all I have to worry about is the length of the club I am using. I just move closer, or farther away depending on that club. If I change ball position at all, I might move the ball one or two ball widths forward, and then, only with my woods. GJS
