Advice Please, New Women's Set?

New to the forum, and looking for some advice about a new set of clubs, please. I haven't golfed in about six years, and am ready to play again now that the children are ready to learn how to play. In my last golf life, I was in the near intermediate category with better consistency the more I played. My husband gave me a Knight starter set in hopes of getting me interested in golf about 12 years ago, and they're what I used. I'm ready for some different clubs now. I have to admit, the colors on many women's clubs don't appeal to me at all as I prefer clubs that look like clubs, not colorful batons, so the pinks, purples and similar are out for me. At 5' 5", athletic/strong and 33 1/2" wrist to floor, I've found that the regular size women's set will usually work for me. One more thing, I don't really care about the name on the club as long as the workmanship is excellent, although I think I'd prefer to stay away from clones as the lack of warranty and quality issues are of some concern. Any suggestions for what are possibilities? I'd consider complete sets, as well as creating a set out of different manufacturers' clubs (driver, woods, and irons). And, I'd even consider used clubs, or clubs from the last couple of model years. Cost is a consideration, as value is preferred. Thanks much.

Re: Advice Please, New Women's Set?

Sounds like it's time to see your custom club maker.

Heres the 'magic formula' for turning men's clubs into ladies clubs:

Cut an inch off the clubs and install ladies grips.

Surprising? It was to me.

In other words, you're pretty much safe to buy whatever clubs you like (new or used) as long as the shaft flex is OK for you. Then get them fitted for length and lie, and enjoy!

Here's what I tried today: Adams A2 OS, TaylorMade Miscela, Tour Edge Bazooka, Mizuno Tava and Bridgestone ESW Hybrid/Iron Set.

The Mizuno woods and the Bridgestone set were by far the best for me!

For me, it's idiosyncratic, but my breakdown looks like this:

Hybrids must match. Irons must match. Wedges must match. Fairway woods must match - driver excluded.

If Mizuno+Bridgestone=success, then you know what you need to buy!
