| Most OVER or UNDER rated clubs.... There are some many clubs out there now. Some costing $1000 + and some around $100. So here is my question, with all these clubs around, are there some clubs that are over-rated or under-rated? I just bought a set of di5s from Wilson Staff. I love them!! Have dropped me from 90s to my 1st ever 89. I don't think Wilson gets the love it needs. I'm even looking at getting the new Wilson Staff dd6 driver. Wilson Staff is very under-rated. |

| Re: Most OVER or UNDER rated clubs.... Just my opinion, but the amount of money a set costs has very little to do with the sets playability. I offer this as an example. Some years ago I flew into a town to visit some relatives, and as fate would have it the air port lost my clubs. With tee times set, all I could was go to a store, and purchase a set of clubs for under $120. The cheap set played well for me during my visit. Eventually the airport found my lost clubs, which were returned in good shape. Another example is look up "Liquid Metal" golf clubs. See what they originally sold for, and compare what they sell for now. If you can even find them. The old saying "it's not the arrow, but the indian" still rings true. However, with some of the new arrows comming out, especially hybrids, they tend to make the indian look pretty good. Any set of clubs will suffice for a player as long as the player has a decent, repeatable swing, and the clubs are fitted to that player's swing charactoristics. GJS |

| Re: Most OVER or UNDER rated clubs.... I don't believe that the issue is that Wilson is under rated. It would be more accurate to say that nearly all clubs are so advanced now, that there are not too many that you can go wrong with. The manufacturing materials are the same between brands, and so is the manufacturing technique. The shape and designs are a little different, but accomplish the same things. Most differences are so subtle, that the average golfer would never know the difference. |

| Re: Most OVER or UNDER rated clubs.... I'd say any major OEM is over rated. Oh - wait. Over priced. Wait - you said rated. I stand by what I said. ![]() |

| Re: Most OVER or UNDER rated clubs.... my friend has just bought the same irons and has improved his game dramatically. yet before his equipment was not that good so any change it clubs would probably of improved his game. the new driver from wilson staff is also very good. i tried it the other day and it was still getting right up there next to my tiliest 905t. yet i still believe that they are not as good as the top makes although yes they are under rated. Maybe the price of them puts people off as you feel a bit more comfortable that if you put alot of money in then you will expect it back in quality goods.

One thing about later Cobra clubs. IMHO seeing that exceptionaly large oval 'sweet spot' easily displayed by the groove configuration at address has got to add confidence to a beginer Maybe all OEM over size have that 9 point sweet spot on the face Cobra talks of. Might not be what a low handicapper wants to see but for those of us looking for an edge it got my attention. My wife is thrilled to feel and see her ball air out 60-80 yards. Instead of rabbit thru the grass 30-40 yrd from a bladed thin shot ![]() My vote for underated would be Tommy Armour and Ram in irons. Ram really needs to remove that BIG R on the sole. It just reeks of Kmart Last edited by westcoast941; 05-25-2006 at 02:38 AM. |

| Re: Most OVER or UNDER rated clubs.... My friend and I started playing golf at the same time about 4 or 5 years ago. He went out and bought a brand new set of callaway x16 and I bought a set of callaway x16 clones. (The look was identical) His irons felt so much better than mine, but our scores where not that much differnt. I played with them until about 1 year ago now I have of set of mizunos LOVE THEM!!!! GREAT FEEL!!!!!!!!!!! |

LOL..nice.That made me smiled. Now try this. If Tiger Woods played with lets say Ram irons and won. Why would 30% of golfers run out and go by Ram irons (btw who just raised their prices cause Tiger used them)? Maybe it's the thought that Tour players play with the high priced clubs that make us feel better with the high priced clubs. |
