Claw putting stroke

Today, the course I play at was very empty. I was playing by myself. Just on a whim, I decide to try the claw putting stroke like you see all the pros going to.

Boom, I sink a 20 footer. I start playing with it a little and start sinking some nice putts.

Is anyone using it and does anyone have any recommendations and also specific instructions on how it should be applied??

Tell me about the Claw grip...

Thanks,

Chessbum....

Re: Claw putting stroke

Hi Chessbum,

Well my understanding of the claw grip is that your using your left hand in a pistion action to put. It is an adaptation of Mark O Mearas saw grip in which your hand is closed around the grip.
The theory is that because your hands are not in the conventional left hand grip you don't have the tendency to release your left hand after impact with the ball. So with the saw / claw grip your left hand remains ridged and doesn't cause you to flick the putter.
Well Thats my understanding of it and hope it helps

Cheers
Mark

Re: Claw putting stroke

hello chessbum,

I tried it once it did not work for me, I left everything short.
It is hard to get used to it,
i thought it would'nt work for me because i have got really little hands [because i'm ten]. If you think it works for you then try it.

Liam,
