Pain in the Side?

Last weekend I played golf 3 days in a row. On the last game, about half-way through, I noticed a stitch in my right side around the rib area. Since then it has been really sore! Any similar experiences and/or suggestions?

Cool Re: Pain in the Side?

I experienced the same discomfort last year during my vacation when I played five days in a row on mornings and went swimming on afternoons. The soreness faded over 3 weeks, but the important thing is to avoid over extending yourself like that, especially if you are into your late 30s or over.
You may be however less vulnerable to such aches and strains depending on your overall fitness level. If the pain persists for more than one week, you should see a doctor.

Do you carry your clubs? I have gotten that rib cage pain previously from picking up my bag. If you carry, try to keep it light. No more than 3 or 4 balls in the bag.

Cool Re: Pain in the Side?

No, I ride the cart. I've spoken to other golfers and they told me that they had similar experiences while using their irons. I've come to beleive that I have a pulled oblique muscle. Been putting moist heat and icy\hot cream on and it seems to have subsided somewhat.
