Question got 16 clubs which ones should i use?

hi all
can you give me some advice here.
i have 16 clubs to choose from:- driver,3wood,17,23 and 25 deg hybrids 3-9i,pw,sw,lw and putter.
as i carry my bag im trying to lighten the load which clubs do you think i should be carrying.
obviously the putter is a given and my local course has plenty of tight fairways!
what would you guys carry?

Re: got 16 clubs which ones should i use?

I recently got a gap wedge to add to my collection, so I dropped my 3 wood for it. I hardly used the 3 wood anyway! My scores have dropped a little because I have more club choice around the green... the "Scoring Zone".

I would guess that the 3-4 iron and your 2 hybrids are duplications (distance wize) of each other and might be a place to start. Depending on which ones you like better etc.

Re: got 16 clubs which ones should i use?

I think you should keep all your clubs, and rotate them based on the course you're going to play. I recently got back from a golf trip in Orlando, where some of the courses I played required a 3 wood. To hit into the par 3's. Because there was no where to lay up. But at my home course, the only time I would pull 3 wood would be if I screwed up my drive on the par 5.

So normally I carry

Driver
19, 22, 25 hybrids (2, 3, 4 iron)
5-9 irons
PW, GW, SW, LW
Putter

For a longer course (ie, sub in the 3w) I would probably drop the PW. The logic behind this is because I miss a lot of greens (I'm struggling with a pull-slice/fade right now), and I miss a lot of greens. So I need my 60 for those short shots. My PW is a club that I can layup to avoid hitting. If I needed it to the middle of a green, I'd either take something off a 9, or try and lean on a GW.

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.

I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.

Hi slater. How are you Pal.

First of all , the above advice is BANG ON. YOU ARE duplicating your 3 and 4 iron with the rescue clubs.
secondly: On really tight fairways i always tee off with my 3 wood as the extra loft cuts down on side spin which should give you more accuracey.

cheers pal .

Re: got 16 clubs which ones should i use?

hello people
thank you for your replies
aftford. i play manor at kearsley more often than not and the fairways there are tight so like you said 3wood is the best option. ive had that club 5 weeks now and havent hit one bad drive with it (knock wood)

bob thanks for your advice i didnt know how hybrids related to irons.

lowpost i currently dont play a variety of different courses but i can see how you would tailor your clubs to the course you are going to play
i played friday and saturday and had same clubs as you except i had 3wood where you have driver.

got 4 lessons left out of a pre paid block so im going to ask pro to try and straighten out my driver swing.
