Furyk's bunker shot

I was watching the Open today and i was amazed when Furyk took out his putter to play his bunker shot. He played the shot considerably well. Did anyone see this crazy shot? and would any of you try it?

Re: Furyk's bunker shot

I saw it.
The lip in that bunker must have been 2 feet high, so god knows how he got his ball into the air with a putter.Superb shot though.

cheers

Re: Furyk's bunker shot

what got me was how he even saw that shot in his mind, and then play it so well, if he got ir wrong it would of stayed in or run over into other bunker, but the way it spun up and round the side face and then run between both bunker was amazing. best shot of the week bar none. i dont think many pro's would of even gave that shot a thought, sam torrance was amazed by it.

I can tell you, our local announcers were in shock when he took out the putter. Then they spent some time laughing, making jokes about Furyk's swing coming from only being allowed to use the putter for all strokes.

They went DEAD silent when the ball came out, and the shot was mentioned in disbelief several times later on.

And I agree with you ... how the heck did he come up with that idea ??? And what about the guts it took to play it. Had he missed it, he would forever have been 'the fool that took the putter to the bunker'.

And in the Open too.

Amazing ... highlight reel moment for sure!

Re: Furyk's bunker shot

actually that shot is quite simple
how he did it was
he took his putter and pulled it back,
lifting the putter into the air above the ball,
then he started his forward swing while going towards the ball
Actually, I have no clue how he thought of it or pulled it off, it was crazy
now how many times are we going to be playing in the near future only to watch our playing partners try to hit the putter out of the bunker
