Temper tantrums

Congratulations to Ben Curtis for his performance all week at the Open, did we se him show off slaming his clubs about? No .

What about poor Thomas Bjorn, Did I say poor? Sorry I meant to say stupid yes stupid childish or whatever fits .He should be the Open champion ,but once again he has let himself down badly as he has done before, with his temper tantrums onthe first day of the championship in the bunker.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I have not got time for these type of playersAnd I wouldn`t entertain playing with these type of players. What do you think?

True

I think it is natural to release tention witha short outburst but your right, there is no need to start throwing around clubs. A "damn" or "Jesus" every so often is acceptable but what I really hate is players that hit a bad shot and let it ruin the rest of their round by giving up and sulking.

Cool I agree

Golf is the most frustrating sport I can think off but having a tantrum doesn't release the tension. I remember 2 occassions where I was playing with Sam 555 each on a seperate day. On one day he did a bad shot and chucked his club around in anger but the other time he hit it only 80 meters a big slice into the tree line. As I laughed at him he just said "Oh well, 5 wood with a slight fade and ill be on the green. Then I putt in for birdie" He didn't do this but played really well from then on compared to the first time. This is the same for me and I think the same for everyone. All tantrums do is let one bad hole flow on to another bad hole.

Well ... naturally, in a gentlemans sport, tantrums aren't very fitting.

Thomas Bjorn wasn't really throwing a big fit, though. But just let his club fall through and touch the sand when coming back from his finishing position. It wasn't like an agressive "throw" of the club, just a stupid little bit of irritation.

Apart from that - isn't the call a bit harsh? I mean, he gets a 2-stroke penalty for "testing the sand", when he has just hit a bunker shot from the very same sand. One would think that he already knew the conditions of the bunker, and thus had no advantage to gain.

Furthermore, there is a decision that states, that using you club to even out holes you have just made from another shot, is comparable to raking the bunker, and thus legal, and Bjorn's move wasn't much more than that.

Oh well ... he takes a 2-stroke penalty on day one. All-in-all, that's not what cost him the victory. The collapse on the 16th and 17th on sunday was what messed it all up.
