Doubt tiger now?

Tiger Woods is the 2006 PGA Champion

Anyone doubting tiger's supremacy now? He is playing some hell out of some golf and he is only 6 away from Jack's record. I firmly believe he will own Jack's record by the year 2010, thats not even 2 a year. As long as he doesnt plan on changing his swing again that is.

Re: Doubt tiger now?

Tiger may annialate what he did in his previous great stretch
If his swing is as grooved as it seems to be, it will only continue to improve from there. But what he is doing now that he did not do in the previous great run is playing smarter, yes he played smart but not this smart. THe man hit MULTIPLE 5 woods off the tee on a 7500 yard wet course, that is insane. Did you see his press conference where they asked him if he felt bad for his competitors? I think the man has something like 12 of his last 15 rounds at 68 or better, just crazy

Re: Doubt tiger now?

Honestly, are we watching the greatest golfer that has ever played? Is this the awe that people felt when watching Jack, Arnold, or Bobby Jones? It's just hard for me to imagine that.... Well...when Tiger decides to win, well he just wins! I honestly felt bad for the young Luke Donald, Mike Weir, and the others. Do you think that seeing Tiger ahead by 2 or 3 strokes on the final day is like a huge punch in the bread basket? Just takes the wind out of You!

Re: Doubt tiger now?

I felt sorry for the golf course. I played it about 2 months ago and believe me, it does not play short. You have players hitting 180 yard 9 irons out of the rough. There is no course these guys can't annhilate.

As for Tiger, he is undoubtedly the best ever. VJ didn't make the cut, Mickelson, Wier, Els, Sergio, also rans.

Re: Doubt tiger now?

he is playing alot smart, thankfully he checked his ego, i can only remember him hitting his driver about 6 times, most of them were bad, thing is though he hits his 3 wood as far as the medium long players driver and his 5 wood as long as the average hitters on tour

Re: Doubt tiger now?

hi tiger just cant hit his new driver but his sponsers tell him he has to play it as they want sales as they are pushing in just now, he knows he would play better with another driver but his games good enought for him to keep winning without it

Cool Re: Doubt tiger now?

Tiger has that uncanny ability to raise the level of his play above the competition. The other guys were posting some really low scores, but he was simply outwitting them. The comparison to the former greats will be inevitable, but to most of us, he is the greatest!

IMO, the overall quality of today’s players is much better than in Jack’s day. Really not any question in my mind. The swings are technically better, overall, and produce more consistent results, overall.

This is true in most other sports, too. Knowledge expands and the sport evolves and is played at a much higher level. This almost always makes it more exclusive, with fewer and fewer people possessing the very specific skill set to succeed at the highest level as well as the training discipline to reach the highest level. Inevitably this raises the level of competition. It’s kind of sad, in a way, that there just isn’t as much room for somewhat flawed but truly "unique" or "individual" athletes, even if they are incredibly tenacious competitors.

Tiger has won 25% of the pro tournaments he’s been in and 30% of the majors he’s been in. This is the best indication of his current status as a great player.

Re: Doubt tiger now?

Tiger has alot more tough opposiiton that what jack had. The commentators were speaking about it yesterday and everyones game is ALOT better, because of equipment and fitness.

We are very lucky to be alive at this moment in time watching the BEST golfer EVER been! And we should take advantage of it and learn everything we can from him for our own games.

Re: Doubt tiger now?

one of the reasons tiger is so good is that he uses meditation/hypnosis
he taps into the inner mind in a way most golfers, or people for that matter, dont.

Re: Doubt tiger now?

Let me tell you this, Sergio, Ernie, Mickelson, Donald, Goosen are all too relaxed to beat tiger!

My Dad is in to all the meditation and all that and he saw Donald on the putting green before the round and he said to me, Donald has lost already!! I said why? he said look at tiger and look at donald, Donald was laughing and smileing at the croud and jokeing with his caddy, Tiger was just focused so so hard.

Sergio and ernie and goosen are the same! Laughing and jokeing with the caddy, smiling with the crowd! F**K the crowd and caddy, your trying to beat tiger woods here, and if your going to have that relaxed attitude you have lost before you have started!
