New Player!!

Hi everyone I'm new to this forum and picked up a golf club for the first time two months ago. I went to golf course with my brother last week and scored 108. ( Too high). I don't use a driver because it baffles me but sometimes I practice with it. My question is about shafts. All my clubs have steel except three wood. My three wood is regular graphite and I have trouble hitting it consitently. All other clubs with steel shafts I hit well and pretty consistent. I know they say beginners should not use steel shafts but should I also change my three wood to a steel shaft. I am 31 and am 6"1" and weigh about 210. I hit my five about 200 and seven wood about 185 but my distance for three wood is incosistent. Is it advisable for beginners to use all steel shafts?

Re: New Player!!

It's advisable for beginners to use whatever shaft fits them.

Steel or graphite is a personal choice. For more athletic players, I like to fit them in steel - the extra weight helps to keep their swing 'simple' (for lack of a better term).

I say try steel in your 3 wood, especially if you think it will help. Now, that said, please know that there are lots of graphite options out there - I'm sure ONE of them will work for you.
