Wink consistency of swing

Hi All.

I recently adressed my overall swing, and decided that my shaft and hand position were not adressing the ball correctly. Having worked on this for the last few weeks, the results have been truly amazing. I have gone from being unsure on the t box with too many swing thoughts, to just standing up and making great strikes consistently. Furthermore, my game has improved dramatically and yesterday I shot 81. With the last few weeks of the season upon us, I am confident of dropping a couple of shots off my handicap. I am enjoying the game more than ever. With this adjustment in my setup, i.e. hands and shaft just ahead of the ball, i am sure that it may help others with the same problem I had.

Cheers,
Robert

Re: consistency of swing

hi robert
yes i too push hands forward at start of swing, like it the forward movement that starts the swing but i also think my hand are ahead when i swing back now and i seem to hit ball cleaner and ball flys high so i dont seem to de-loft club any by pushing hands forward at start of swing. at first i did it only into the wind but now it on every shot.

Re: consistency of swing

Hi Bill,
It is defintely a key factor. I think it also gives a feel for a good rhythm. To me, by starting in this setup, it eliminates all swing thoughts and increases my confidence that I will make a good strike

Re: consistency of swing

Hi Guys,

on my Iron shots I also push my hand slightly forward as I start the backswing, my Iron shots are great. My problem lies with my woods and Driver from the Tee they are very inconsistent, I can hit a screemer on one Tee and on the next a low hook. Do you also push the hands forward with your Drivers on Tee shots.

Cheers,
Ian

Re: consistency of swing

hi
yes but i move club head back about 2 inches from ball fiirst and then push hands forward, i have the ball tee'd of my left big toe so i cant do it if club face against the ball, i also tilt spine away from target a shade with my driver. i find i catch the ball just right on upswing doing that, and with driver my thought is always slow and smooth.

Re: consistency of swing

Hi Ian,
With my driver, I dont use a forward press. I concentrate on ball position, posture and a slight tilt of the spine to the right, which encourages an upward strike. I try to start my move with a takeaway of the left hand and a full shoulder turn. However, as with all shots, slow back is always important
