Left Elbow Pain

Hi All,

Over the past few times i have played/practised i have been receiving pain in my left elbow, I am a right hander.

I do not feel Uncomfortable when playing it is always after. I do other sports MMA( Mixed Martial Arts) however i have never had this before.

Could this be i am holding the club incorrectly, or the old age kicking in.

Should the elbow be facing directly left or facing back a little?
Does the arm fully lock out?

All help is much appreciated

Regards,

Thimble

Re: Left Elbow Pain

did you make a change in your grip that could cause the problem as you using new muscles. another cause is bending left arm to much on back swing, when you get to impact the arm snaps straight causing the pain. tennis elbow is what it is, look it up on a serch engine will give you lots of info.

Re: Left Elbow Pain

Hi,

You might be gripping the club too tightly.

Re: Left Elbow Pain

Hitting range balls can aggravate your elbow. The harder the ball the more vibration back to your body. Many older golfers switch to graphite shafts to reduce feedback vibration.

I find my aches and pains magnify with range balls, hard ground and hitting mats. All torque up the vibratory feedback.

Re: Left Elbow Pain

The left arm should be extended throughout the swing but not stiff. It folds up on the through swing. If you are blocking on the through swing, i.e the left arm is not folding and the club is not releasing properly, this may put more tension in your elbow.

Re: Left Elbow Pain

G'day mate,
It depends on where your pain is as what the cause or the biomechanics of the problem is. If you are in a standing position with your arms by your sides and the palms of your hands facing forwards where would you describe your pain... at the front or back of arm.... above or below the point of your elbow.... inside or outside (nearer your torso or outside) I ask these questions with a medical background as you will find it very hard to fix your pain if you don't know what is causing it. Failing this go off and see your local physio for some professional advice and treatment

Cheers, Wayne
