Beginning to dispair

I need some advice on what to do. I have been playing for about 2 years and really enjoy playing golf. However, I can't seem to score lower than 99. I already came down 22 shots, and have taken a few lessons.
I like the pro I take lessons from but I feel as if I am at a plateau.

I recently played off the short (red) tees with my 7 year old and shot about the same is not worse.

I can usually strike the driver fairly straight and consistently. However, my ironplay varies greatly. I am never quite sure how any shot will turn out. When it's great I feel good but when I slice it I feel as it was to be expected.

I am open for suggestions. I would like my range practice to be
productive but more often than not I am not able to take my game
to the course.

I guess I am asking for suggestions as to a starting place.
Thanks

How abou 3/4th or 1/2 swings with irons? That should make you consistent. You will loose distance but get consistent.

Try checking your setup. Start correct and you're at least on the right track. Start wrong and the opposite applies. I don't know to what extent the pro has worked on this, but its worth a look.

Re: Beginning to dispair

hi
work on your short game and your 7,9 and 11 o-clock swing, get them working good and know how far you hit with 7 iron down to a wedge on all three swings and only then start to go to a full swing, do not hit at 100% but use a controled 90% swing, you will see the shots drop if you get a good short game, then work on your putting.
give yourself time to improve, dont expect it to just happen it does take time and lots of pratice but pratice with a purpose.
