Golf club interview

Hi all,

I have my interview for membership at manchester golf club on thursday night and was hoping for some tips & do's/don'ts.

Another big thing is, I want to join for the 2007 season (feb 07). Will I have to pay the joining fee now, or later on in the year? This is the thing that's panicking me, as I've just had the holiday from hell, where none of my familys bags turned up, and its cost me nearly £800 to clothe us for the holiday. I doubt its the kind of club to look on situations like this as a reason I can not pay the joining fee straight away.

Thanks for your help in advance,

Wes

Re: Golf club interview

hi
a lot of clubs let you pay by direct debt and work it out to a monthly bill and not all at once but most ask for the joining fee up front.
just be yourself at the interview and ask about the club, show an intrest in the club and about past winners and things, if you know some of the members the drop there names as it helps too.
best of luck.

Cheers Bill,

Yeah the subscription fee isn't a problem. Its just with the recent setbacks, my bank balance is seriously depleted and I'm hoping they don't want the entrance fee this week.

I take lessons from the head pro and he's really helped me out getting an interview, as I don't know any members.

Re: Golf club interview

Just to let anyone who's interested know, I have been offered a 5 day membership until I can hand in 3 cards. Then they will offer me a 7 day membership.

Happy days!

Hi WAE

here in ireland, the procedure is to pay the one off membership fee as well as the annual sub together. Funnily enough I have never heard of an interview process here. They are just glad to take your money!! Membership fees here are outrageous. Average membership fee can be anything from €2000 to €17,000 plus annual sub.

All my worries re: subs and membership fees have stopped. I can pay my subs in installments, and pay my membership fee when I join in jan 07 so I'm really happy. The interview processes and getting letters of recommendation and references was a pain, but I wanted it badly so did it.

Will be doing Ireland in April next year, and the cost of playing there is ridiculous. Got my flights and accomodation for next to nothing though. Will be playing the K club palmer course.
