is this game realy difficult?

more I think about swing, swing path, wrists , grip ...... the worse I play! 14 clubs to hit a little ball, no one holding you, attacking you, tackeling you and the result? well we all know! a very difficult game. slice, push, pull, missed 3 footers and the list goes on and on! some times I wish I didn't know anything about golf so I could start from the begining and learn it properly! more I read the more confused I am! break the wrist, dont break the wrist, different ball positions, ball in the same place!! does anyone know how to start again? I am going to try not thinking about this game for at least a day, just go and hit the ball and see what happens! are you guys the same? have we turned a simple game to the most complex game ever?

Re: is this game realy difficult?

Thats why kids are great golfers. They have some car boot clubs, and all they know is "hit the ball to the hole" a la happy gilmore. They never make anything more difficult than it has to be.

Adults however spend thousands on equipment, lessons, books etc, and never fully think about the object of the game. The ball goes toward sthe hole..

"What's the matter with you, ball? Are you too good for your home?" Cracking film.

It would be nice if it was that simple.

Haha. Too many good quotes from that film. "til the night closes iiiin"

Yeah I wish it was that simple myself. I know from all of my lessons that what I was doing at the start (the principle I mention of being a kid and hitting it to the hole) was effective, but severely limited my game. I had a massive overswing and reverse pivoted which lead to fat shots a plenty. Hell, I can even draw the bloody thing now, and I thought that was the stuff of legends before.

I think beginners overcomplicate the game though. They shouldn't be thinking of the million and one things more experienced players do. It should be 'get the ball in the hole' and if they want to get better, then they study the fundamentals.

Adam Sandler is in it, and has some writing credits. Its the usual sandler bunch in the film.

If you like silly humour (anchorman, wedding crashers, billy madison) you'll love it.

If you play like Happy, I'll pay for you to have a round with me. You bring the beers and hockey sticks.

Re: is this game realy difficult?

that is becasue people make it too difficult

they try to match postions and "hold the wrist agle" as long as posible and it is all for not.

i would say the single most important thing in the golf swing is feeling the club head. then you can tellit what to do and where to go and it will listen.

but if you just swing the club around it can be very hard becuase you dont' know what the club is doing.

how do you feel the club head? through resisting and changing the direction the club head wants to travel.

i reccomend this link to further clafiry

http://www.golf-tuition-online.com/g...nder-hour.html (how to learn the golf swing in under an hour.)

it may look like alot of words but what it basically is saying is turn core and uncock wrist from the top. the lower body is passive and can be learned at a later time if you wish and is not need to hit well, just needed to get good distances.

i like the quote put a 1" beem 1' from the ground and people can dance on it all day long, but put that same beem 500' with spikes under it and it is all of a sudden hard to walk acrost and somethimes even stand on.

if you think to hard and get to technical with the swing it becomes very hard.

don't think about postions you have to meet just cock your wrist in the BS and throw the club head at the ball, your strait left arm will guide it properly to the ball.
