Jim Mclean please leave Hogan alone

http://www.golfbusinesswire.com/2006_articles/110271

This new release was really looking interesting, until I saw Mclean was once again featured in it to analyze the Hogan swing. I watched "Ben Hogan: the golf swing" where Mclean tried real hard to fit Hogan's swing into his teaching theories, practically ruining it. I watched it several times, only to see the Hogan footage, fast forwarding on Mclean.

Dont' get me wrong, Mclean is an excellent teacher. But he excels in teaching mediocre golf to mediocre golfers (and there's nothing wrong with that), not analyzing the timeless masterpiece.

If only Hank Haney and Tiger Woods could take a winter vacation and make a DVD presenting the Hogan swing. After all, Haney said on Charlie Rose that Hogan was the only swing video that he and Tiger would watch. One can still dream.

Re: Jim Mclean please leave Hogan alone

hi
hogan did his book the fundmentals of golf based on his swing and what he did and thought and even had the pics in the book changed so they showed what he ment, i do think hogan was trying to give all golfers the basics and that he did it better than anyone has in a book, all mclean id doing if going over hogans book and adding his teaching to it. hogan said to do this and that but he did not do all as he said in his book but he said he he had to change things after he had his crash but the basics were there for every one in his book.
it has stood the test of time more than any golf book and we know thats because it works.

Re: Jim Mclean please leave Hogan alone

From my point of view, since the heirs to Hogan's estate are on board with this collection of instruction, it makes little difference what other names get attached to their effort. It will be a good source of historical teaching information, and Hogan's estate will make money off it.

Now from a business stand point, I think Hogan's heirs could have done themselves better by controlling the number of people who have been allowed to ride on the Hogan band wagon. GJS
