The 7 laws of the golf swing

I have started reading this book "The seven laws of the golfswing" by Nick Bradely. Excellent and super visualizations. The first chapter on the grip is well worth it. Bought it from amazon used - looks brand new - hard cover for $10.00. Mike.

Re: The 7 laws of the golf swing

The pictures and illustrations are first class and really drive his point home. For example, in the first chapter he describes how to form the grip based on natural biomechanical make up. Now this may be nothing new, but he goes on to describe the pincer action of the thumb and index finger and how they function on the grip. He then has a picture of squeezng a tube of toothpaste as similar action. He clearly shows the connection between the left thumb and how the right hand fits into it between the thumb pad and the life line. This gets your right hand off the club except for the fingers allowing a more neutral ball flight. He describes the main faults of a bad grip like having a long left thumb on the club and clawing the club with the right hand. In addition, he rec; gripping the club away from the ball as the last concious action of the preshot routine. The book then goes on the discuss the geometry of the setup, leg action, tempo, swing shape release and then visualzation. So far I like it, mainly because the visualizations are so strong and clear. mike.

Hi Slater

Bradley is a former Leadbetter assistant to my knowledge. In this months Golf World, there is an interview with Justin Rose, and Bradley is his new coach. Justin Rose said Leadbetter was quite technical so moved to Bradley. For a flavour of Bradley's teaching check the link below.

Re: The 7 laws of the golf swing

I am a great fan of Nick Bradley and his view on the golf swing and mental game. This book is a great resource, the graphics are fantastic.

Most of my views on the golf swing now are based on his teachings, they have made a tremendous difference to my golfing ability and understanding. It's a must for your Christmas stocking.

Re: The 7 laws of the golf swing

Got this book last week from the library. Have to say I am impressed eventhough I am only four chapters through.

I have had a glance at Law 6, and the concept of the Puck Hit. It works by releasing the angle of your right wrist in down swing, with the right hand working under the left through impact. This seems different to watch I have heard before about the release before, but I'll give it a try. I think Dalton McCrary also had a similar move.

I have been using the puck release for some time and find it very effective in gaining extra distance and good direction.

Re: The 7 laws of the golf swing

I'm glad you like the book so far.
I have been working on 2 things:
1) the grip especially the part about keeping the right hand off the club except for the fingers and the pincer action of the thumb and forefinger and
2) Swing back with the arms only until the arms are at the midpoint of the swing and then turn the belt buckle

the result on the course and at the range is a lower more penetrating ball flight and consistent.
