OH MY GOD, how much can one person improve after just one lesson!!!! Almost every ball i hit before my lesson, with an iron, went left, WAY left or got topped and went 5 meters. after a half hour lesson, a slight alteration to my stance and grip, bending over a bit further and shortening my swing (for now) i am hitting them just as far and at least 80% are going within a couple of degrees of totally straight. i may be even hitting slightly further with the shortened swing, so as i have a few more lessons i am expecting to improve my distance a great deal. only worked with a 7iron on my lesson, but went to the driving range and hit 200 balls with a 5/6/7 and 50 more with a 5 wood. the swing and accuracy has also improved with the wood, although with the shortened swing i am not getting anywhere near as before, and the 3/5 woods were the only ones i could hit ok with before the lesson. got to say i am really impressed with my own improvement and the quality of the lesson i had. just for anyone who is interested in lessons i heartily recommend Gary at Heaton Park golf course in manchester, he has a very good teaching style. looking forward to more lessons and dropping my score along way on the next 18 holes that i do (hopefully very soon)

Re: had my first lesson no probs, he charges £15 for 1/2 hour, but its well worth it. feel so much more confident in my swing after such a short time. not tried it out over 18 holes yet, and it may all fall apart but i don't think so. not been to any other tutors but he is very easy to speak to and his demo shots were spot on, even the ones where he tried to demo a bad shot were better than mine ![]() his number is on the club website

Re: had my first lesson will def play you when i have had a couple more lessons WAE. not been playin long enough to play people i don't know, might get nervous and my game wil fall apart. just played 18 holes at Manor golf club in bolton, my previous best score was an nasty 137, and i have had way worse. my new best score, played today, first time since the lesson 121, so gettin better, but still could be better. ah well, hoped to do better but my driving has definately improved, i even got some good hits with the 1 wood which i have not been able to hit with before as it always just went flat. at least i'm hittin most shots straight(ish) now
