Re: Do Golfers Lie Or Exaggerate?

Lying to wife- priceless!!!!! Lying about golf - no no no
I ordered a new shaft for a new head two weeks ago from a company two states from me because it was the cheapest place around. i emailed the guy and told him send me one for 110 mph swing speed. he emailed me back and used my real name, which I never use. Everyone calles me BO.
He said Herman (real name) You don't need that one because I was in Dallas at The district LDA contest and saw you competing. He said you swing much faster than that. I took what he sent me. So be carefull about lying eyes maybe watching. LOL!!!!

Re: Do Golfers Lie Or Exaggerate?

yes they definitely lie----especially with handicaps----now some guys are honest but some guys will claim lets say to be a 10 handicapper-----but what they really mean is there best games are 82---not average----also i think the longest drivers are like around 130--150mph-----not 180---thanks

Re: Do Golfers Lie Or Exaggerate?

After thinking about this topic, I would have to add that there are probably more than few instructors hanging around who exaggerate information to their students. Both about themselves, and to the student to boost their ego. I know a month ago I was warming up on a driving range in south Texas. The local pro walked by, and I asked him how far the back fence was. He told me it was 310 yards, and that I was hitting a very long ball for someone who looked like a "well seasoned" golfer. Probably his polite way of saying how old I looked to him. I don't hit 300 yard balls anymore. That is, not without the help of a severe wind storm, or a long, steep down hill fairway. During a brief chit chat, he told me he had worked there for 10 years, and that for series of lessons, he could have me hitting past the fence. As it turned out the fence was only 250 yards away per my range finder, and pacing it off while walking hole #1 which ran along the side of the range. GJS

Re: Do Golfers Lie Or Exaggerate?

You won't believe what just happened. I hit a perfect three wood that went 320 on a very long par 5. I hit a three iron to lay up, but hit a sprinkler head and ended barried under the lip in a greenside bunker. The only shot I had was to hack it out and try to get it on the green. I did, but left myself with over 100 feet to the hole. I hit the putt as hard as I could, but pulled it a little. Can you believe the thing hit a small rock on the green and it bounced right into the hole.
