? for uk members

hi
has anyone played ellesmere golf course in walkden on the outskirts of manchester?
i am looking to join a club locally and they are advertising a special offer on memberships!
i have never played the course myself but i have been on their website and the course and the facilities look excellent.
they are charging £500 joining fee and £687 for the green fees and that will last untill renewal is due in april 2008. is that a good deal?
any advice appreciated

Awight Slats!

Not played there but I've just changed golf clubs, and £687 for over a year is a good deal mate. Course looks ok from the pics on the website.

If you're interested in seeing the golf club I play at, go to:

No particular reason. Just if ya wanna be nosy!

Gets a good write up.

"Course excellent; Professional very helpful and friendly. The overall opinion of the society was one of good value and friendliness.

Excellent day out; good course and clubhouse - a 'must return' venue.

Friendly welcome - pleasant and helpful staff. We would definitely consider returning. We enjoyed the day and course very, very much."
As long as you play regularly it looks a good deal based on their standard green fee - and once a member you can bar that cheating colleague of yours.

hi robin
thanks for that link
apparently the course holds up really well in the winter.
with that in mind i would be looking to play 70-80 round a year so i will get VFM.
wont be inviting the colleague to play although dont think he will want to play as i gave him a pasting today

Looks good. I see it is a private Members Club which is good, this tends to limit pay and play which in some clubs can overwhelm the course on weekends.

I see they have a special offer, does this give limited access?

Are the 18 holes free as well?

You may never need to join a club

Good luck mate - if it was me then those 18 would be my worst for a month.

Now let me see, Ellesmere can't be that far from the Wirral for when I make my occasional foray to the NW.
