| eBay bargains Hey Cressers, Almost my whole set is compiled from eBay purchases. I had purchased a Cleveland QuadPro driver with a bimatrix shaft for $75 (shaft alone is ~ $100). I didn't like the way it hit though. That is the only downside of buying something off eBay. I got lucky though because I ran into a guy on the course who liked the look of it and wanted to try it. He loved the feel and traded me for his Great Big Bertha, which I was always borrowing from my friends. I have also purchased my driving irons from eBay. I have a 15* and an 18* Cleveland Quadpro Launch iron - I absolutely love them - and only paid about $75 each. Most recently I bought a set of Titleist irons for $100. They are about 10 - 12 years old, but they were described as in good condition. My current set of Wilson iron are about 15 yrs old and have approx. 1000 rounds in the past 10 years, so I deserve to treat myself. The only clubs I didn't replace are my TM putter and my Cleveland SW and LW - my putter has been with me since I took up the game and I have NO intentions of ever changing. I got the sand wedge as a gift a few years ago and I found the LW for $30 in a discount bin this Spring. With all of these purchases over the past 6 months, I now almost have a complete set of backup clubs. As for getting better deals elsewhere or getting hosed, I usually check prices and read product reviews on epinions.com, golfreview.com and golf-gear-review.com before I bid. To reduce the risk even further, I make sure that the seller has over 300 positive feedbacks. Anything more than .5% negative feedback I tend to stay away from. If the rate is slightly higher, I read comments - some of the buyers out there screw something up and then post negative feedback when it was not the sellers' fault.

| Cressers, I recently purchased a set of irons (3 thru pw) on E Bay. They are the Adams Tight Lies GT Performance Irons. Got them for $172 which includes shipping. Recently saw a set at Dick's Sporting Goods for $250. I feel like that was a pretty good deal. The company I bought them from shipped them quickly and was easy to deal with. I personally like lookng for the deals on E Bay. |

| Hmm I will look forward to the classified section! I have done OK on some things, new TM 200 driver for 70bucks, but on others, I spend a long time searching the web for equivalent prices, then happened to pop into sams club, and whammo, they have pallets of the things. I have taken the attitude that if you look at whats new for sale, and there is a large number of them from different individual sellers, there is a chain store out there knocking them out cheap. Looks like I may get some new fitted ping clubs for less than a third retail.....but its thay last 15mins you have to look out for!! Thanks |

| I've never bought stuff for golf off the net. I like to feel and see what I'm getting. I play with some lesser branded clubs called Performance Plus which cost £1 each second hand, that's about $1.55 US. They are well made too, forged with weight flow, but I'm stilling trying to get my hands on a 7 iron. I'm 5'11" tall so regular length shafts and flex suit me. I just put on new grips and it came to about £40 for the lot. I'm playing off 3 at the moment so they can't be that bad for the money. I've trying to find some on the net but I can't find them anywhere. Here's a picture of the 5 iron. If anyone can identify them I'd be very grateful. ![]() Last edited by pgmetcalf : 08-23-2003 at 05:25 PM. |
