| just an update on my scores since i decided to leave the driver at home. i now tee off with either a 5wood or 3 wood depending on wind direction, only 10 yards or so behind the other drives but on the fairway most of the time , or just off.playing of the competition tees i scored 4 over par in a medal, and 3 under par yesterday over a 12 hole game. i am getting more confident with the woods both off the tee and on the fairway, and a good 3 wood is up with the other drives ,so i am reaching more greens in regulation. putting..... now thats another story!! i have had a lesson and still struggle, changed my putter to a second hand wilson tpa, which is getting my putts past the hole , where my last putter did'nt (it had a soft insert in the face), any tips on putting drills to help me get my putting average down, currently around 38-42 per round |

| Re: how my game is going since i ditched the driver I've done the opposite and ditched my 3 wood. Scoring alot better on the par 5s, even got on a green in two using my 3I hybrid. There are holes that I should just hit that baby instead of booming the driver. |

| Re: how my game is going since i ditched the driver The title of this post "speaks" to me on so many levels... My Driver issues are well documented in these threads and I'm here to say that I seem to have put them behind me, for the time being.... No longer do I fear grabbing it when I know it is the right club to hit... My choices in selecting which club to take from the tee at my home track have become reasonably settled and I now only take the driver out on 4 or 5 holes a round, if that. And the first hole that I can reasonably hit it, even if I wanted to is our 7th, so by that time, I'm well and truly warmed up. There is no question in taking it earlier as the landing areas for me with driver on the early holes are too risky should I spray it. Now, I am looking to replace my Driver. My Taylor Made Bubble Burner has served its purpose, and now I need to update the club. Will be looking in the pro shop bargain bins at every course I visit in the future and hopefully a pre loved gem will present itself... Cheers ![]()
