| Where I play we always have to use tee mats in the winter, which I don't like. They mats are not very big, the ball on the tee always falls over in the slot and they're quite uncomfartable to stand on. In winter, I always put rubber spikes on my shoes, they make it more comfortable to stand on the mat plus each stud has 4 spikes providing more grip on soft ground. Paul |

| Good idea... Only trouble I have found is the wooden beams that sometimes are part of the tee as steps or bunker or any other part of the course that has wood that you need to walk over. When they are wet on the surface and come in contact with soft spikes, you have no grip at all and can slip and fall. So be careful ok.... On the lighter side, make up a flask of Whisky Mac, 50/50 Whisky/Ginger Wine. Offer it to your friends and knobble the opposition before you get on the first tee… haha Back to reality. Get warmed up before you play. If it’s cold and your wearing more cloths, swing shorter/slower due to the restriction of all those cloths. Take more club due to less swing/and cold conditions. Putting can be a pain in the butt so dont expect to hole out the same as you do in summer, I often think of hitting slightly up on the ball to gain more roll on the ball, due to slow greens. It also keeps it straighter. Or stay in the club house and play cards!!! Drink and be merry…. Last edited by Cliff; 08-28-2003 at 11:48 AM. |
