very poor Ettiquette

Me and 3 pals were playing the weekend in a medal competition, whilst we were almost on the next tee which is only 30yds from the 5th green that we had just came off, the ball from the visiting Scratch Team players ball almost hit us, he made absolutley no attempt to apoligise and only did so when we said to him your ball almost hit one of us on the head, his nonchelant reply was oh sorry, and walked off no attempt was made to shout fore as we were clearly visible from where he played his shot.
It didnt finish there when we were on our 8th th green the ball landed on the green, this hole is well known for the long hitters to reach in one the Scratch golfer was looking at us on the green putting then proceeded to play his shot again almost hitting us,
this was totally unaceptable behaviour, the player was confronted and again was not going to offer any apoligy all his reply was that he didnt think that the green was reachable which is 340yrds, although it was visible he had drove his ball on the previous hole 320yrds.

myself i play off 7, my two friends play off 10, we are all fast players so i really couldnt understand the reason for this behaviour other than him thinking he is superior to all other players will a higher handicap than himself. this really makes me wonder why somebody with that kind of talent should be such a jerk.

not made a decision as yet wether to make this official at my club as the lad playing with him who is the scratch team member at our club, was actually defending him and made no attemt to apoligise for the other players conduct.

I welcome your views.

The title of your post says it all...

That is very poor and I agree yes, you should make a formal complaint to your club committee...

Re: very poor Ettiquette

If it happened once and they apologised then fine but to do it twice and fail to apologise it smacks of extreme arrogance. Very poor etiquette IMO, I would pen a letter to the club committee, take these idiots down a peg or two.

Once is a mistake, twice is an act of aggression. Anything else, and I start collecting balls.

Not sure that would help much as half of the scratch team are on the commitee,

It just goes to show really that they think they own the club, by virtue of being commitee members, got a good mind to ask for my joining fee back and join elswere

hi killer
if the official route is futile then you have 2 choices if it happens again
and i would do either!
pick his ball up and pocket it or discretely throw it in the rough.

TBH im at a nice club so cant see the problem arising but if i had to put someones nose out of joint by complaing then i would!

Me too.

I'd a) complain in writing b) when you get fobbed off by the scratch boys and their cronies pin your letter and their reply on the notice board c) follow Slats advice next time.

Re: very poor Ettiquette

Play faster!

I'm kidding.

I just got back from the course and I was going to play eighteen, but it quickly turned into 11 holes. Grandpa and his 3 grandkids took over 20 minutes to play the first hole which was my 10th. I'm on the tee for 10 minutes and they're fishing balls out of the pond. Wish we had a marshal at our course (with loaded side-arm, with no slow-play allowed edged in the barrel.)

There is a time to take the grandkids out for a good time at the course. That's between 6 and 8 am, monday - friday.

Back on topic: One of the things I will do if I don't hear 4 or they don't act like they are coming up as fast as they can to apologize is take out a beta ti ball. Cheepest ball made. Put it on a tee where theirs was and pocket theirs.
