Help! cant rotate my arms in the down swing

Help! rotating arms a problem!!!!
I have been struggling with a right to left slice ever since i began golfing, ive had a dozen or so lessons and the last lesson i was told that i need to learn how to rotate my arms in order to close the club face! but im finding it really difficult to do this and am still slicing!!!
Is there a simple yet easy way on how to learn how to rotate my arms and closing my face on the down swing?

* Get your trailing hand's grip more on top of the club.
* Get your hip and shoulder rotation through more before impact.

Hello Burnie.

Are you left handed ? If not then what you discribed is a hook.
It could be caused by to much rotation.

If you are left handed then follow Gregs tips.

You could try this drill: Grip the club normally. Now take your trailing hand and move it down to where the grip meets the shaft. Now swing with your hands in this position and you will feel the club rolling over. I would still check out Gregs tips.

I took this as a left handed slice..."right to left slice"

Re: Help! cant rotate my arms in the down swing

Burnie:

Gregg is quite correct about moving the trailing hand more onto the top of the grip. I suffer from the same problems as you - "slicing" due to not rotating right arm over left arm enough. I am a right handed golfer and I rotated my right hand to be more on top of the grip and now I'm hitting it straight, I do occcasionally pull shots but it is easy to fix.

Re: Help! cant rotate my arms in the down swing

this may be caused by lack of rotation and almost a "holding on" swing in the followthrough. An easy drill to get your arms and wrists to rotate quicker is to take short swings and flick your wrists (using a driver) into an impact bag, or even a pillow. Make sure that when your doing this you feel your wrists turning over. It should help.

Re: Help! cant rotate my arms in the down swing

Another thing that I was told to do is to try to hook the ball on your down swing. The logic behind this is that if you are having trouble rotating, i.e. rotating too or not at all and slicing. Try to hook early could lead to a square club face at impact.
