Right hand grip.

I understand the fundamentals of the grip with the V pointing toward right shoulder.

But was wondering where the club should be set on the right hand, should the club be across the base of the fingers close to palm or actually wrapped on the fingers on the right hand.

If there was a specific method I would prefer to use than always looking at the V,thank you if you can answer.

Just 1 more quick question

How much clearance of the left shoulder turning under the chin should there be,do most players feel there left shoulder(right handers) rubbing on there chins on the back swing.

I have tried keeping my chin high but this tends to result in some bad shots so was wondering if rubbing was ok.

Hi Kino,

The first question about the grip, (right handed players) the left hand goes under the palm across the top of the fingers. The right hand if you think of picking up a pail of water and then putting it on the club. It goes more in the fingers, index finger extended slightly.

The left shoulder is an interesting question, I teach my high schoolers that proper posture will dictate this. I take a shaft and put it on thier spine at address. The head should be held up but in a natural position looking forward. This will help relieve any shoulder tension. You could do this in a mirror.

Side Note

Kino,

Just a side note, If you use the pinky and ring finger of the left hand an middle finger of the right hand as your setup pressure points you will have much less tension in your swing.
