good deals on golf equipment

Hi Everyone,

Being a newbe to golf and not having a lot of money to spend on golf equipment i am always on the lookout for good deals... so far this summer i have bought a complete set of clubs, bag and a dozen ball from a high school kid for $20.00 and the sand wedge was a ping eye 2......picked up a burton classic golf bag and a ground zero two wheel golf cart for $11.95 ..both looked brand new without any scratches (might have had one round played on them)...found the price tag for $170.00 when i got home in the bag.....went to the local flea market and bought a set of ping eye 2's 5 and 7 woods with laminated heads that are in good shape for $1.00 each and just today bought a pair of dunlop leather golf shoes on closeout from K-Mart for $8.00...

i read about guys buying ping, nike and all the other name brand clubs but does anyone here scrounge for golf equipment like i do ??? also do my ping clubs have any collector value ?????

Dave

Oh yeah i scrounge all time, even boken clubs on the course - they just need new shaft generally speaking. The only thing I would say to you is that just because stuff is branded it doesn't always mean that it's good or suited to you. There are mountains of clubs which you can pick up cheap that will do the job for you.

There is a guy on my home course who loves to break Tommy Armor 845's I've got 5 now that all have been snapped in the middle.

I also scounge Ebay. I use a Biggest Big Bertha 9*with a Penley ETA, the biggest was 75.00. I reshafted it. I bought a set of New Hogans for 280.00 and 3 Reid Lockhart wedges for 60.00. I wouldn't trade those wedges for anything!!!! My $1.95 Burke PGA Persimmon 5 wood gets most people going. The head isn't much bigger than a golfball but I can hit it 210 easy.

As an engineer I get equipment to test and some I get to keep. I test alot of golf balls. Sometimes you can write custmer service and ask for a sample.

A very tired GolfBald
