| First time full swinging.... Yippiee!! Today I took my new $19 cheapo Knight 64' Iron Wedge to the local school and started swinging at some balls I retreived from work. At first, it was awful. I nearly gave up adn went home. But, I was determined to either: Get the ball going long.... or Get the ball going where I was aiming. Now, all I know is what I read in the "The Golf Swing" section here. That in mind, I slowly forced myself to adapt the propper stance. After a few minutes my club was grazing the grass rather than cutting 1' deep troughs...... LOL Then, one I got that going, I started to examine where my ball was (the "address" right?). To start I was putting the ball right between my feet. But, a gentle shift to the left and the ball was flying.... Up, right.. but not too far. Then I started to hold back on my swing... rather than "trying to smash the ball to the other end of the city.." I just swung, much better results!!...... More looking down at myself and I knoticed I was holding the club slightly off center. To the left, and it was angled across to the right. Hummm... So some gentle repositioning, and twisting the club so the face was kissing the ball correctly (so it was angled rather than at a 90' out from me). With in about 10 minutes I was hitting the ball straight... more or less where I was aiming it. It was also traveling between 70 - 80 yards. Some, to my amazment were going over 100 yards, but they were fluke I think.. And the wind may have helped. Im thinking that 75 yards isnt to bad. For a pretty much self tought beginer, playing from some definate rough lie (a school football field) Im happy. I found that the football field was nice because I could hit from the 5 yard line and see how far my ball is going. Well, anyway. Thanks for the great tuition (again), The Golf Swing is a great artical!. Im off to the driving range tommorow, I feel a lot more confident. Well, I feel like Im not gonna swing and put the ball into my neighbours ass anyway..... - Adrian. Last edited by fraggle; 10-10-2003 at 05:54 PM. |

| Well poop. I didnt go to the range today. I forgot my chnge of clothes and I didnt want to be up there in my sandy, dirty seaty work clothes with golfers next to me wearing nice bright clean shirts and pants... :-) Saturday! Saturday is a 3 hour day for me, so I can hit the range early while the day is still cool. |
