What is the correct position and what are the effects of a 3:00 o'clock, 12:00 o'clock and 9:00 o'clock position have on feel or ball flight

The position the mark on a pured shaft should be, in relationship to club head. After a shaft has be spined, I marked the top of the shaft. Where should that mark be positioned.

The defacto standard as I understand it is to put the spine (S1) to 12 o'clock for distance or to target (9 o'clock for a RH golfer) for control.

Personally, I find the FLO plane, then hunt for any significant spine on the FLO plane (by significant I mean 3 cpm or more). By and large I put my S1 to 12.
