Question Just got given a set of Ping's?

I'm pretty new to this golf lark (couple of times down the range, not been on the course yet. So actually very new!)

Just got back from dinner my gf's house and her dad gave me his set of Ping golf clubs.

Like I say I dont know much about the world of golf, so are these any good?

Got a 2 and a 3 driver. 2 to 9 irons. Sand. Pitch.

Re: Just got given a set of Ping's?

hi
Ping kIII are the third changed to the K1s and there a small headed heal-toe weighted club with a good feel and have a cavity back so it gets the ball in the air quick, there a bit old but still a very good club to start with as there forgiving so your miss hit will not be so far off.
the K1, K2 and the kIII with some of the best selling clubs of that time and were far ahead of many other makers of the time.
you should do well with them as there a good club for someone starting.
one tip, don't try and hit the ball to hard. let the club do the work and you will love them for it.
best of luck.
bill

Re: Just got given a set of Ping's?

hi again
you will find a dot on the club and it will be a color, if you go to the ping wed site and look up fitting there you can check to see if the color code fits you. ping have all there clubs color coded so they fit how tall and the distance you arms are from the ground. if you do a wed check and its free you will see if your clubs fit and if that do then your in luck and you wall be closer to having fitted clubs than any other maker.
cheers

Re: Just got given a set of Ping's?

With apologies to the moderators on here, can I just say that I have a set of Ping Eye II (black dot) irons that need a good home; reasonable condition but needing a bit of TLC which I never get time to provide and I never get round to advertising them.

Any local (SW London) interest and they are yours for a reasonable price - take a sample of internet search prices and you can have them for the average - or a couple of bottles of really good malt as barter

No mate; after all the work and encouragement you and the guys have put in to get me semi respectable I ain't giving up yet Though I might yet have doubts after Sunday's first "real" fourball of the year.

No, the Pings were my first full set (second hand) many years ago when I wasn't up to using them (even if "black dot" was right).

Until I can fund a grands worth of saville rows then I'll probably make do with my current rag and bobtail mixture of clubs so i'm basically looking to clear some storage space - hence I'm not pushing for much more than 2L of Oban which imo is absolutely the best everday malt available - seen black dots on t'interweb for $250 so thats not a bad deal even just as a speculative investment for someone one willing to tart them up and re-sell.

Re: Just got given a set of Ping's?

Robin.

I had a set of red dot Eye 2's and I loved them...!!!

When I first started playing all those years ago , they got me in from 25 to 17 inside 12 months.

May I suggest you start using them and hock the mixed bag...???

You might find some more consistency...

Cheers
