Cleveland CG 12 / 14 wedge Bounce question.

Has anyone out there had any experience playing the new Cleveland CG 12 or CG 14 wedges. I have a question about the bounce. They come in a low (10 degree), Standard (14 degree), and high (16 degree). I have always thought that 10 degree was about standard and 14 degree would be considered high. I was looking for a wedge on ebay and most of the options are in the 14 degree standard option. While this would be nice for fluffy sand and rough. I am worried it would be very hard to hit cleanly out of moderatly tight fairways. I have never played a wedge with a 14 degree bounce. Any input would be appreciated.

If you're making proper contact (club delofted, ball before ground) then bounce won't make a lick of difference.

Bounce actually 'saves' the shot by decreasing the chance of digging the club and laying sod over the ball.

My advice is to buy a wedge based on what you want to use it for. Primarily out of the bunker? Buy enough bounce to play your regular bunkers. Primarily used for full shots? Buy a wedge that fits more into your iron set. Needs to do everything? Then you need to compromise - less bounce than you'd like for bunkers, more than you'd like for fairway shots.

Personally, I play in heavy, dense sand, so 10 or 11° of bounce is actually borderline too much. So a low bounce wedge works well - I get to use it in bunkers and it's not too much to use out of the fairway.

The other option here that is often overlooked is to play less bounce and more sole width - possibly the best of both worlds. Low bounce for the fairway and the wide sole acts as more bounce in the bunker.

In the CG line of wedges, the degree of bounce for, say, the one dot wedges varies depending on the loft. That is, not all the "low" bounce wedges have a 10 degree bounce. Look at the spec charts for the CG12 and/or CG14 at Cleveland’s web site for a complete list of the loft/bounce combinations.
